Getting in touch with me on the trail presents some challenges, but please please please do it. I’ll appreciate it that much more. A quick voicemail/text/email/letter is all it takes to make my day. Of course, care packages are always angelic. Meeting me on the trail, downright godly.
By Phone: My number is the same as always. I’ll probably have reception every 3-7 days. Leave a message and I’ll get back to you.
By Email: My address is the same as always. I’ll check it when I check my voice mail.
By Mail: Please read all instructions carefully. All mail should be sent USPS, unless otherwise noted, where it must be sent UPS. I recommend Priority Mail for USPS packages. Please do not require a signature/buy insurance/etc. All boxes and letters should have “Allison Johnson” written above the c/o line and “Hold for PCT Hiker ETA: (Date)” in the bottom left. I have approximate ETAs listed, but you should check recent blog posts to see if I’m on schedule. You need to mail letters and boxes at least a week in advance of that date. And while I love surprises, my mail may get lost if I don’t specifically ask for it. So if you send a box, please let me know via phone or email. Or write my name in huge letters all over the box. Finally, please don’t send anything I have to carry. If it can’t be eaten or otherwise enjoyed on the spot, I’ll have to throw it away.
In Person: I’d be happy to have you hike with me anywhere along the trail with some advance notice. I’m hoping some of you will resupply me in person in Washington.

Hey Bonanza Jellybean!
You have put together the most amazing website!
I check your site before I check my own email.
Always knew those painted toenails would end up on the net.. HaHa! I know the last time I saw Heaps he still had his painted!
Nice job with the PCT emblems.
I hope to cross paths with you again.
Keep living it up!
Cheers, your friend-Iceaxe
Ice Axe,
That’s such a complement! Thank you. I so enjoyed hiking with you. Hopefully you had a good end of trail. We will cross paths again and catch up. The next time I come through California, I’ll definately be paying you a visit.
Much love,
BJ
Ally –
Just wanted to let you know that Oscar and I look at your website regularly! We’ve loved following your adventures on-line. Hope it continues going well — and that you’re not freezing (13 degrees in Winthrop this morning!).
Christopher
Thanks so much Christopher! I finished on September 28th. I actually took a day off in Winthrop and thought of you folks. Hopefully all is well.
Much Love,
Ally
Heh Jelly Bean
I was totally stoked to read that you had finished your hike. Brrrrr….the last month in Washington must have been cccccooold. Last time I saw you we were enjoying some ice cream at the bed and breakfast in Etna. I wondered how you made out. I enjoyed meeting you on trail. I hope the rentry into civilization hasn’t been to painful. On the trail like is simpler, people get you more…out in the bigger world..not so much
Trouble
hello congrats on your awesome adventure
Hey Ally!
Im glad to hear you finished. I met you, Reddy, and Rafiki this summer on the trail the day you guys were headed for Mammoth. My group and I were the heavily laiden JMTers headed south, two redheads a guy and a girl, and myself the third had a cool Keva china guy sunhat on. We talked with you three for quite a while. I was eating jelly beans today and I thought of you. I often wondered how you madeout until I remembered you blogged. I plan to do the PCT in 2012. I often tell your story to friends about how you aquired your trail food. -the crafty thru hiking goddess story. Thanks for the great advice and for posting all of your adventures!!!
may our trails meet again,
Ash
