Niagara Falls USA & Canada

We took a trip to the majestic Niagara Falls State Park in New York, USA & Ontario, Canada. 🇺🇸🇨🇦

We began our journey by flying into the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. ✈️ We decided to get our hotel in Buffalo, New York and then Uber each place we wanted to go.

Buffalo, New York

We took an Uber into the city of Buffalo to explore while we were there. We went to the Erie Basin Harbor Walk, walked along the waterfront of Lake Erie, and explored the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park. 🫡 These were all historic sights to behold and worth a visit while you are in the area. We decided to choose lunch/dinner with a view of Lake Erie. We chose Templeton Landing and got to sit outside and enjoy the views Erie has to offer.

We began the Niagara Falls tour on the USA side. We bagan at the entrance of the Niagara Falls State Park.

Our goal here was to ride the Maid of the Mist. ⛴️💦 We booked these tickets in advance online before we came. That didn’t guarantee us a spot. It just expedited the ticket buying process. 🎟️ Once we got there they gave us a ticket to ride the infamous Maid of the Mist. They give you a postcard and a blue poncho as a souvenir. You 100% need to wear the poncho on this boat ride.💙 I didn’t realize they take you so close to each of the falls. It is around a 20 minute boat ride round trip. We luckily walked right up to the boat and got on. We stood on the edge so we could see Niagara Falls in all her glory and make sure we felt the mist from the falls.

The boat takes you past each of the falls and gets the boat as close as they can to them. The first one is the American Falls, the next is Bridal Veil, and the largest is the Horseshoe Falls. Horseshoe is on the Canadian side, so the boat actually goes into Canada on the ride. This ride is epic is all I can say. I felt alive and one with the Earth. It was a magical experience getting soaked by natures force. It was surreal knowing the mighty fury and power of the water flowing over the falls. I brought my Go Pro camera and a water bag to keep my stuff safe and dry under the poncho. 📸 The only thing that got wet was my head because the hood kept blowing off. I just embraced it. The Canadian side has a boat ride too, so you are able to wave at them in their red ponchos, while we are in our blue ones.

Be sure when you are done with the ride to go up to the observation deck to see the falls from a different point of view and angle. Each angle in the park is magnificent and different.

USA/Canada Border 🛂

My mom and I decided we wanted to bring our passports and cross the border over to Canada. Right outside the Niagara Falls Park is a sign that says Rainbow Bridge to Canada. 🌈 It is a pedestrian bridge where you can walk and cross the border to Ontario, Canada. While on the walk you can see the falls the entire time. There is also a spot on the bridge that has a plaque that’s says International Boundary Line: United States/Canada. 🇺🇸🇨🇦

While on the journey there and back through customs be sure to bring: your passport, cash to pay the $1 to get through, and something to carry your belongings. There is a machine that gives you coins for your $1 to get back to the USA. 💵

In my opinion the Canadian side was better than the American side. Why? You can see all 3 of the falls perfectly on the Canadian side. Also they had many hotels, casino, food places, gift shops, zip line, and a boat ride on that side too. When I come back I definitely want to stay on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. There is much more to do and I’d love to try more of it. 🇨🇦

I decided to Zip line the Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. I had never zip lined on my journeys before, so I figured this would be a good first time place. I can always say I crossed a border on foot to zip line over Niagara Falls. 🛂🚶‍♀️Be sure to cross the border earlier in the day and zip line earlier.

The wait to zip line was long. The reason I got through so fast was because I was a single rider who could go with any group of 3 or 4. This was only $60 to do. It was worth every cent for this truly phenomenal experience. It is very safe and the staff tells you exactly what to do and how to ride the zip line. They also video you going down and you can purchase the video and photo when you are done. 🎥 I bought the package for $48 and they gave me a digital download for my phone. I also had to buy a t-shirt for this once in a lifetime experience. They also shuttle you back to the starting point. This was a popular attraction, so be sure to book in advance and get there early.

When we crossed the border back to the USA it was packed. We then made it back to the USA side and went through border control to get back in. 🛂

We decided to eat Hard Rock Cafe Niagara Falls on the New York side. 🎸There are other hikes and things to do in Niagara Falls that I would love to do on my next adventure back to this park.
