Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Punta Cana go back to the Dominican Republic?

We celebrated Christmas in the Caribbean this year.

Language

The language spoken is Dominican Spanish.

Transportation

A taxi will take you to and from the airport for $35-$45 one way. The people at the airport will call the taxi for you and the concierge at the hotel will call the taxi service to pick you up.

Entry into the Dominican Republic

You need to fill out an electronic ticket to enter and exit the Dominican Republic. Here is the website to fill it out:

As of now they are not requiring a COVID test or vaccine to fly to the country. Your resort may require a COVID test 72 hours prior to arrival.

Entering back into the USA you need to have a rapid test done 24 hours prior to your arrival into the USA.

Currency

The Dominican Peso is the currency used in this country in the Caribbean.

All Inclusive Resort

We stayed at the Occidental Punta Cana All Inclusive Resort. We booked this resort off of Priceline.

You never have to leave the resort. The resort has all food and drinks included, a beautiful beach, massages, shopping, exquisite dining, and shows at night.

When you arrive at the resort be sure to book your dining for each night before it fills up. Also schedule your COVID test for returning back into the USA. When you schedule all this after you check in, your stay will be stress free.

Beach

The beach at the resort was Bávaro Beach. Also called Playa Bávaro. This beach was on our resort. We walked to it each morning. There is a bar on the beach so you can lay there all day and get drinks. The large palms shade you if you want to get out of the Caribbean sun. The sand is white and the ocean is baby blue.

Dining

There were many amazing places to dine in this all inclusive resort. They had an enormous place that served breakfast and lunch buffet called El Alcázar. Then there was a beach hut near the pool you could also eat lunch. Around 6 the pizza place and taco place on the second level opened for dining. The dinner options were Via Veneto (Italian), La Hacienda (Mexican), and d’Oriental (Asian). There was also a steak house and seafood restaurant, but we didn’t try those.

There was a bar everywhere you needed at this resort to try any drink of your choice.

Spa

The spa was called Metamorphosis Spa. I got 2 massages while I was on vacation. One was in the spa in a cute hut and the other under a hut near the beach. That one was my favorite feeling the beach breeze while I got a massage. Activities

They had shows each night at the resort. They also would have a live Dominican Band play some nights also.

We were there on Christmas so they had fun activities.

Christmas Eve they served a special dinner for everyone at every dinner place. They made a champagne tower in the lobby and kicked off the Feliz Navidad celebration with the staff dressed in Santa gear and they paraded and made it a party with the champagne.

On Christmas Day they had Santa come up on a speed boat on the beach at the resort. They paraded him around the resort with a band and made it so festive and fun. They took him on stage at the end with a ton of toys for the kids to experience Santa at the resort.

They always kept the resort clean and tidy and were constantly doing up keep while you are there. The gardeners and the grounds keepers will cut down coconuts and cut them for you to drink on your way to the beach.
